Online Dating Story: "Who says that you can't find love at 60?"

I was on Yahoo! Personals for quite some time and met many nice people through the years -- many of whom have become good friends -- but I had not found that one special person who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
My daughters told me I was very picky, which I am. After being married most of my life and raising a family, then being a widow for more than 12 years and becoming independent, you know what you like and what you don't like.
I appreciated Yahoo! Personals for its reasonable cost and the wide range of members. I always enjoyed reading the success stories, especially the ones about the couples who were looking for partners after being married most of their lives and then finding themselves single.
Finding Warren introduced me to a most wonderful and exciting man.

He captured my heart and soul, and now we are planning our wedding.
He captured my heart and soul, and now we are planning our wedding. We are excited about all the hopes and dreams we will be able to share for the rest of our lives. We will be a wonderful family with our children and grandchildren, and who knows, eventually maybe even great grandchildren.
Warren's daughter-in-law had encouraged him to join Yahoo! Personals. He told me he must have looked at my picture and profile a hundred times before getting up enough nerve to contact me. He thought I would not be interested in a teacher, since my headline said I was a "CEO looking for COO."
We have so much in common, and through the years our paths seemed to cross over in many areas. We even went back and attended university classes in education at the same school to finish our degrees. We feel as if we have known each other our whole lives, kind of like, "We've been there or done this together before."
Yahoo! Personals gave Warren and me the tools to find each other under conditions that were designed for business professionals like ourselves, who don't always have the time or means to socialize or actively look for a mate.
We feel like a couple of teenagers in love and it is absolutely wonderful!
Success Tips From ShirLeeBe honest. Honesty saves a lot of time not wasted for you and others.
Judge the responses you receive against how well the people match your lifestyle and what you are truly seeking in a companion. Do not lead people on if you are not interested.
Always have a current picture up on Yahoo! Personals. I can't think of anything more irritating than not being able to recognize the person you set up a meeting with because their picture is 10 to 20 years old and they are now 20 to 50 pounds heavier.
When you plan to meet someone, always arrange to get together in a public place.
First date: Warren retired from the military with the rank of Sgt. Major and was in Special Forces. He went back to school and received his degree in teaching social studies, with history and archaeology being his passions. He is very patriotic, so we met by the Utah State Capitol on a beautiful summer afternoon the first week in August. We had been talking on the phone since July 24.
Warren arrived on his Goldwing motorcycle. We enjoyed the view and sat and talked, getting to know a little about each other's backgrounds. He was shy and had a mischievous, warm smile, with the bluest eyes. I felt I could see into the window of his soul and knew immediately that he was a keeper.
I remember his parting words, "

It would be so easy to fall in love with you.
It would be so easy to fall in love with you. At this stage in my life I do not want to make any mistakes, please don't bring me heartache." So I knew he was as interested as I was in taking a closer look at the possibilities between us.
When he called me later to ask for a date, we went to a very nice restaurant and a movie. This might not sound exciting, but when you are with the right person, it doesn't matter where you go -- it will always be memorable. After that, we were always together on the weekends, since he lives in Ogden, Utah, and teaches school, and I live in Salt Lake City and work in sales and marketing.
He proposed to me on October 7 in downtown Salt Lake City, when he took me on a buggy ride and then to dinner. We are now in the planning stages of our wedding, which will be on July 29, 2006. It is fun planning it from a grandma and grandpa angle and having my son give me away, and our oldest children will be our matron of honor and best man, with grandchildren filling in for ring bearers and flower girls. All in all, it has and still is a very romantic experience for both of us. He is always the perfect gentleman and I am thrilled to have met such a wonderful man.
